The Ice Storm
And not the kind where everyone's keys go into a pile.

On Monday, MLK Jr. Day, we were doused with freezing rain that coated everything with a quarter inch of ice.

Each blade of grass remainder isolated inside the ice. It looked like a foreign planet. Our yard was more glass than grass. It feels odd to walk on this fragile cushion too. But you get safer traction than on a sidewalk or road.

And the iced over tree branches and powerlines led to a 28 hour power outage for our town. We took refuge at my sister's house one night and my parent's the next.
